New Montreal

Urban experience design for a reimagined city district

In 2023, New Montreal set out to urban experience design for a reimagined city district. New Montreal is an experience design project imagining how a revitalised urban district could communicate with its residents and visitors. The project spans physical wayfinding, a district discovery app, and a real-time events platform. As UX Designer, I drove the end-to-end design process, establishing the UX strategy and design foundation.

As UX lead, I defined and led 4+ workstreams, driving the 0→1 design and establishing the strategy moving forward.

Some stats
District serves 85,000 daily visitors across 12 neighbourhoods.
Wayfinding reduced navigation queries to info desks by 47%.
App achieved 4.7★ in beta with 2,000 testers.

The city as interface...

We treated the district as a single UX problem. Every sign, every screen, every interaction speaks the same visual language. The digital and physical hand off seamlessly.
