In 2022, Dev Karam set out to developer community platform for east africa. Dev Karam is a community platform built for East African developers to share projects, find collaborators, and access local tech resources.. As Design lead, I drove the end-to-end design process, establishing the UX strategy and design foundation.

As UX lead, I defined and led 4+ workstreams, driving the 0→1 design and establishing the strategy moving forward.

Dev Karam is a community platform built for East African developers to share projects, find collaborators, and access local tech resources.

Some stats

◎ 2,400 developers joined in the first 3 months of beta.

◈ 68% of users are under 28.

◇ 340 projects listed in the first month.

Designing for belonging...

We ran 40 interviews across Nairobi, Kampala, and Dar es Salaam. Developers didn't want another LinkedIn — they wanted a space that celebrated building.
