Note to Younger Self
If I could go back to the first day I opened a code editor, here's what I'd say.
Learn the fundamentals obsessively
Frameworks come and go. The fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, how computers actually work — those stay. Invest there first.
Ship ugly things
Your first ten projects will be embarrassing. Ship them anyway. The embarrassment is the tuition.
Design and engineering are the same discipline
The best engineers think about user experience. The best designers understand systems. Don't silo yourself.
Nairobi is not behind
The tech ecosystem here is building real things for real people. You don't need to move to participate in something meaningful.
